A Studio Production Utility Technician is a versatile support role that involves setting up, maintaining, and operating a wide range of production equipment, including cameras, lighting, and audio gear. This position requires a "jack of all trades" skill set, troubleshooting technical issues, and performing various technical duties to ensure the smooth operation of a studio during live broadcasts or recordings.
Job Responsibilities
- Equipment set up and tear down: Transport, set up, and take down equipment like cameras, microphones, lighting, and audio/video mixers for broadcasts and recordings
- Equipment operation: Operate and maintain equipment to ensure proper levels, calibration, and quality including camera control units, switchers, and audio boards
- Technical support: Provide on-the-spot support and troubleshooting to resolve technical issues as they arise
- Maintenance: Perform routine checks and preventive maintenance on equipment to ensure proper working order
- Studio upkeep: Assist with set changes, manage inventory, and keep the studio floor safe and organized
- Collaboration: Work closely with directors, producers, and other crew members to execute technical elements and meet production goals
Job Requirements
- Must have a solid understanding of audio, video, and lighting equipment is essential
- Must have the ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues quickly and efficiently
- Must have a keen eye for detail to ensure high-quality production standards
- Must have excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with the production team
- Must be ability to move and handle heavy equipment (25lbs.)
- Bachelor’s degree in Audio Engineering, Sound Design, or a related field is advantageous
Compensation: Wage + Performance-Based Bonus, Comprehensive Benefits Package. Final compensation will be determined based on experience and skills and may vary from the range listed above.
