A Studio Production Utility Technician is a versatile support role that involves setting up, maintaining, and operating a wide range of production equipment, including cameras, lighting, and audio gear. This position requires a "jack of all trades" skill set, troubleshooting technical issues, and performing various technical duties to ensure the smooth operation of a studio during live broadcasts or recordings.
Job Responsibilities
Equipment set up and tear down: Transport, set up, and take down equipment like cameras, microphones, lighting, and audio/video mixers for broadcasts and recordings
Equipment operation: Operate and maintain equipment to ensure proper levels, calibration, and quality including camera control units, switchers, and audio boards
Technical support: Provide on-the-spot support and troubleshooting to resolve technical issues as they arise
Maintenance: Perform routine checks and preventive maintenance on equipment to ensure proper working order
Studio upkeep: Assist with set changes, manage inventory, and keep the studio floor safe and organized
Collaboration: Work closely with directors, producers, and other crew members to execute technical elements and meet production goals
Job Requirements
Must have a solid understanding of audio, video, and lighting equipment is essential
Must have the ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues quickly and efficiently
Must have a keen eye for detail to ensure high-quality production standards
Must have excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with the production team
Must be ability to move and handle heavy equipment (25lbs.)
Bachelor’s degree in Audio Engineering, Sound Design, or a related field is advantageous
Compensation: Wage + Performance-Based Bonus, Comprehensive Benefits Package. Final compensation will be determined based on experience and skills and may vary from the range listed above.
